Supplies

It won't be long until "back to school" sales will be in full swing. To help you shop & get the best deals, the teachers of Almont Middle School are sharing the following lists of recommended supplies to help you be fully prepared for the first day of school. Please note that some items may be added by individual teachers as they pertain to class activities. Enjoy your summer, and we look forward to helping you on your journey through middle school!

5th Grade

  • A pencil box or pouch that will fit all of your necessary supplies
    • You don’t want to carry around something huge, but you need something that keeps your essentials in one spot on your table
      • We don’t have desks!
  • 1 ultra fine-point black Sharpie (or other permanent marker)
  • 1 fine-point black Sharpie (or other permanent marker)
  • Pencils and extra erasers (mechanical are fine)
  • Crayons
  • Colored pencils
  • A set of markers
  • 2-3 highlighters (different colors please)
  • 2-3 pens (different colors please)
  • 1-2 dry-erase markers (stray socks work great for erasers!)
  • 5-10 glue sticks (plus, stock up on extras for the second part of the year)
  • 2-3 pads of Post-Its (regular size 3” x 3”)
  • Pointed scissors
  • Earbuds/headphones for Chromebooks
  • 2 spiral WIDE ruled notebooks
  • Folders
    • Green for Science with prongs
    • Blue for Social Studies
    • Yellow for ELA
    • Red for Math
    • A colorful/designer folder of your choice for a homework folder

This is a general list. Your homeroom teacher may have a few additional itmes to add to this list. Also, donations of tissues and wipes are always appreciated.


6th Grade

Needed

Below are the necessary supplies for all 6th grade classes. Your 6th grade homeroom teacher may provide an additional and/or personalized list on the first day of school.

  • Pencils (regular or mechanical; Oricole or Ticonderoga recommended)
  • 2 red pens
  • 2 highlighters
  • Spiral bound notebook
  • Ruler
  • Elmer's glue sticks/drip glue
  • Colored pencils and/or crayons
  • Markers
  • Black Sharpie marker
  • Scissors
  • Zippered pencil pouch (the sturdier, the better)
  • 4 folders with pockets
  • Earbuds (wired, not wireless)

Optional, but Appreciated

  • Kleenex
  • Band-aids
  • Clorox wipes
  • Cheap mini pencil sharpeners
  • Extra pencils
  • Pencil cap erasers
  • Expo dry erase markers
  • Glue sticks/drip glue (for classroom)
  • Small candies (Jolly Ranchers, etc.; for incentives)

These are the necessary supplies for all 6th grade classes. Your 6th grade homeroom teacher may provide an additional/personalized list on the first day of school. Donations of great, gently-used, middle-school-age-appropriate chapter books are always appreciated! Our kids LOVE new books to read!


7th Grade

Social Studies

  • Binder, 1 inch, with pockets and dividers (if there is a problem, please let the teacher know)
  • Notebook paper
  • Writing utensils (pens and pencils)

Science

  • 2 composition books
