Almont Community Schools is asking the community to consider on a $58.4 million bond proposa to fund additions and updates to its four campus buildings so that the district can provide Almont students with an education in a state-of-the-art learning environment optimized to best serve the needs of different learners. This bond is expected to reduce the current school millage. WHAT WOULD BOND APPROVAL MEAN FOR ALMONT MIDDLE SCHOOL? Almont Middle School is 18 years old and much of its equipment, components, and materials are at or near the end of their useful life. This bond would ensure our Almont Middle School has the upgrades and space it needs to succeed for decades to come. Comprehensive Building and Safety Advanced Security and Environmental Control Systems: • Upgrade classroom door hardware and select interior/exterior glass for additional security • Update of the electrical system for AC • Install AC to classrooms and fans to enhance the HVAC system Extensive Infrastructure and Accessibility Improvements: • Replace dangerous concrete walkways • Repave East lot, West/South lot, front loop, and add a sidewalk Dynamic Learning and Recreational Enhancements: • Install large group presentation systems • Add outdoor basketball hoops, and new playground equipment for 5th grade • Purchase innovative media center furniture • Add Maker Space equipment • Modernize classroom furniture And more...
