Almont Community Schools is asking the community to consider on a $58.4 million bond proposa to fund additions and updates to its four campus buildings so that the district can provide Almont students with an education in a state-of-the-art learning environment optimized to best serve the needs of different learners. This bond is expected to reduce the current school millage. WHAT WOULD BOND APPROVAL MEAN FOR ORCHARD PRIMARY SCHOOL? Orchard Primary School is 24 years old and much of its equipment, components, and materials are at or near the end of their useful life. This bond would ensure our Orchard Primary School has the upgrades and space it needs to succeed for decades to come. Comprehensive Building and Safety Upgrades: • Overhaul the HVAC system for optimal climate control adding air conditioning • Significant upgrades to classroom door hardware • Security cameras, fire alarm system, and secure entry points Enhanced Learning and Recreational Spaces: • Add 8 needed classrooms for 4th grade and Pre-K, along with a breakout room for the STEAM center • Create new playground exclusively for Pre-K students Advanced Security and Control System Enhancements: • Install an emergency generator • Replace and upgrade building control systems with the latest technology to improve efficiency and security management Infrastructure and Accessibility Improvements: • Redesign and replace paving and sidewalks to enhance safety • Increase parking availability with 57 additional spaces And more...
