Kindergarten Round Up

Welcome to Orchard Primary School!

Children who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2024 (or not later than December 1, 2024, with an approved waiver) are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten.

We will be offering a full-day Young 5s program in the 2024/2025 school year in addition to our regular full-day Kindergarten program. Placement in the Young 5s program will be determined by date of birth, assessment results, and student need. Young 5s students must also be 5 by September 1, 2024 (or not later than December 1, 2024, with approved waiver).

Immunizations, Vision, Hearing, and Dental Screenings

Lapeer County Health Department Vision & Hearing Technicians will be on-site at Orchard Primary School during your child's Screening Appointment to screen your child.

Dental screenings within 6 months of the start of school are now required. Our local health department will provide more information soon regarding the availability of dental screenings, or you may provide proof of dental screening for your child from your dentist.

For children to enter school in the fall, they must have received their required immunizations and have had vision and dental screenings within 6 months before the start of school. A hearing screening is strongly recommended. If you have not yet begun this process, we urge you to do so now as it takes time to complete.

Your county Health Department provides immunizations, vision, and hearing screenings on specific days free of charge. For schedule information please call your county's Health Department. The Lapeer County Health Deptartment, Child Services: 810-667-0448.

According to Michigan Law, if a child residing in the Almont District is not five years of age on September 1, 2024, but will be five years of age not later than December 1, 2024, the parent or legal guardian of that child may enroll the child in kindergarten for the 2024/2025 school year if the parent or legal guardian notifies the school district in writing that he or she intends to enroll the child in Kindergarten. Completing and signing the registration form for enrollment is sufficient notification.
